Privacy Policy

Docksnip is a browser extension developed and published by Manikant Mudgil, an independent developer operating under the publisher name Docksnip.

Docksnip lets users capture selected portions of webpages, dock web images, organize captured items into folders, and copy or drag those items into compatible destinations.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Docksnip handles, how it is used, and how it is protected.

Information Docksnip handles

When you explicitly use Docksnip, the extension may process:

  • Screenshots or portions of the visible webpage that you choose to capture.
  • Images that you explicitly choose to dock from a webpage.
  • Image dimensions, locally generated thumbnails, and creation timestamps.
  • Folder names, folder contents, dock organization, and item order.
  • The URL of an image when you explicitly choose to dock that web image.

Docksnip does not collect or store:

  • Your browsing history.
  • The URLs of webpages you visit.
  • Page titles.
  • Search history.
  • Form entries.
  • Passwords or authentication information.
  • Financial or payment information.
  • Health information.
  • Personal communications.
  • Your existing clipboard contents.
  • Advertising identifiers.
  • Analytics or behavioral tracking data.

Docksnip does not continuously monitor your browsing activity. Page content is processed only when needed to display the extension or when you initiate a Docksnip action.

How information is used

Docksnip processes information only to provide its user-facing functionality, including:

  • Capturing a user-selected portion of the visible webpage.
  • Importing an image that the user explicitly chooses to dock.
  • Displaying captured and docked images.
  • Organizing images into folders.
  • Preserving the order and arrangement of docked items.
  • Copying an image after the user explicitly selects the Copy action.
  • Dragging or inserting image copies into compatible destinations.
  • Deleting images, folders, or dock contents when requested by the user.

Docksnip does not use this information for:

  • Advertising or personalized advertising.
  • Retargeting.
  • User profiling.
  • Analytics or behavioral measurement.
  • Creditworthiness or lending decisions.
  • Selling data.
  • Data brokerage.
  • Any purpose unrelated to Docksnip’s disclosed functionality.

Local storage

Captured images, thumbnails, folder information, and dock organization are stored locally on your device using Chrome extension storage and browser database storage.

Docksnip does not operate a cloud-storage service and does not upload captured images or page content to servers controlled by Manikant Mudgil or Docksnip.

Docksnip currently does not provide account registration or cloud synchronization.

Locally stored content remains on your device until you:

  • Delete an image.
  • Delete a folder and its contents.
  • Clear the dock.
  • Clear Docksnip’s extension data.
  • Uninstall the extension.

Deleting content through Docksnip removes its associated locally stored data after any displayed undo period has expired.

Network requests for web images

When you explicitly choose to dock an image from a webpage, Docksnip may request that image directly from the server hosting it.

The image-hosting server may receive standard network information associated with the request, such as your IP address and basic HTTP request information. The image host handles that information according to its own privacy policy.

Docksnip does not send the image, image URL, webpage URL, or associated browsing information to Manikant Mudgil, Docksnip-controlled servers, analytics providers, or advertising providers.

Clipboard access

Docksnip writes an image to your clipboard only when you explicitly choose a Copy action.

Docksnip does not read, monitor, collect, store, or transmit the contents already present in your clipboard.

Starting a drag operation does not intentionally replace your clipboard contents.

Data sharing and sale

Docksnip does not sell, rent, license, monetize, or share user data with:

  • Advertisers.
  • Data brokers.
  • Analytics providers.
  • Marketing platforms.
  • Credit agencies.
  • Unrelated third parties.

Manikant Mudgil and other people do not have access to screenshots, images, folders, or page content stored locally by Docksnip.

Information may only be disclosed if required by applicable law or where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, or a security incident. Because Docksnip does not receive locally stored user content, it ordinarily has no such content to disclose.

Accounts, analytics, and advertising

Docksnip currently:

  • Does not require a user account.
  • Does not collect names, email addresses, or personal identifiers through the extension.
  • Does not include automated product analytics or telemetry.
  • Does not contain advertising.
  • Does not use tracking cookies.
  • Does not build advertising profiles.
  • Does not transmit browsing activity to the developer.

If these practices change in a future version, this Privacy Policy and any required in-product disclosures will be updated before the new data practices begin.

Chrome permissions

Docksnip uses Chrome permissions only to provide its disclosed capture, organization, and delivery features.

Active tab

Used to interact with and capture the visible tab after a user-initiated action.

Host access

Used to display the Docksnip interface and support user-requested image docking on ordinary HTTP and HTTPS webpages.

Docksnip does not use host access to record browsing history or monitor the websites you visit.

Scripting

Used to load the Docksnip interface and capture controls on supported webpages.

Storage and unlimited storage

Used to store captured images, thumbnails, folders, and dock organization locally on your device.

Clipboard write

Used to copy an image only after you explicitly select a Copy action.

Docksnip does not request clipboard-read access.

Offscreen

Used to perform local image preparation, cropping, thumbnail generation, and file conversion without uploading the image.

Data security

Docksnip is designed to keep captured content on your device.

When a user-requested image import requires a network connection, Docksnip restricts the request to supported public HTTP or HTTPS image resources. Docksnip does not intentionally send credentials with image-import requests.

No storage system or software can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should avoid capturing sensitive content when other people or software may have access to your device or Chrome profile.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, browser profile, and operating-system account.

User control and deletion

You control the images and folders stored by Docksnip.

You may:

  • Delete an individual image.
  • Delete a folder and its contents.
  • Clear the complete dock.
  • Clear Docksnip’s extension data through Chrome.
  • Uninstall Docksnip.

Docksnip does not maintain a server-side copy after locally stored content is deleted.

Because Docksnip does not receive your locally stored content, the developer cannot remotely view, recover, export, or delete it on your behalf.

Children’s privacy

Docksnip is not directed toward children under the age of 13.

Docksnip does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The extension does not require an account and does not transmit captured content to the developer.

Third-party websites and destinations

Docksnip can operate on or interact with third-party websites and applications.

Those websites and applications are controlled by their respective operators and are subject to their own terms and privacy policies. Docksnip is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, availability, or compatibility of third-party services.

References to compatible destinations do not imply an affiliation, endorsement, or partnership.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure

Docksnip’s use of information is limited to providing and improving its single, user-facing purpose: allowing users to capture, temporarily organize, copy, and deliver images.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Docksnip does not use or transfer user data for:

  • Personalized advertising.
  • Retargeting or interest-based advertising.
  • Data brokerage.
  • Creditworthiness or lending decisions.
  • Purposes unrelated to Docksnip’s user-facing functionality.

Humans are not permitted to read user content handled by Docksnip except where the user has provided explicit consent for a specific support request, where access is necessary for security purposes, or where disclosure is required by applicable law.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when Docksnip’s functionality, data practices, or legal obligations change.

If a future update materially changes how Docksnip handles user data, the change will be disclosed through the website, Chrome Web Store listing, extension interface, or another appropriate method before the new practice begins.

The effective date at the top of this policy will be updated whenever this Privacy Policy changes.
